Hey guys,

Just bought my 300ZX TT a couple weeks ago and I had a local audio shop install a couple things. Anyways long story short, After i got my car back I found a new problem, blowing a fuse called Engine Control (10 amp). My oem Boost gauge will not work and the HICAS,Brake, Light, and seatbelt light all won't go away due to this fuse blowing. I replaced it and as soon as i turn the key to the ON Position it blows it. I took it back to the shop and they spent some time with it but could not really come to a conclusion. They and I think there's a short in the line or a component is not working right. I also just took off the mufflers the other day because i like the sound but these problems started after I got my car back from the shop. It idles rough, and doesn't preform like it did. This fuse shouldn't make any difference but It seems like it is. Has anyone ever had any problems similar to mine? I appreciate any help at all. I know for a fact It's electrical because my 4 gauge ground that runs from the battery to the head was burnt up. Something very strange is going on and I can't figure it out. O2 senor maybe, injectors?

Thanks,

Brett

welcome.. pics of car? Also, what i would do, it disconnect all the stereo wires and start from scratch. Once they are disconnected, start the car with a new fuse and see if it runs normal. The shop did something. Make them fix it.

Welcome. I agree. They should fix it. It sounds look they either wired the stereo in or close to that harness. They could have pulled a wire out of the harness.

But if they dont I would start from the fuse. Find what side of the fuse box is grounded. It will probably lead you to the stereo or amp.

How does the ground burn up? Sounds like they screwed up good :( Hope they didn't fry any other wiring. (maybe they hooked up the battery backwards?)

What shop did the work? Did they cut wires and hope for the best? or did they use a factory harnes to bare wire to install the stereo? Like Mr. Spendlove said, undo the stereo and see what happens... Good luck getting the shop to admit to their mistake.

I wish I could help out more, but my knowledge of anything other then Toyota Tacoma's and 280ZX's is minimal.

Which lights are out? Brake, head lamp?

Are all the dash warning lights out? door, antilock, trans oil, washer, etc. Because they are linked to the same fuse.

Probably the same fuse the radio runs off of, right?

Not sure. Its possible. The wiring diagrams that I have only show a 10amp fuse. But the wiring color does not match.

i would send it back. they are covering up for a bad mistake. if it ran fine before, you get it back and now eveything is wrong, then they have hooked the audio stuff up the wrong system causing the fuse to blow, its being overloaded.

tell them to fix it and make it right, no charge, or sue their ass for everytthing you can get from it. thats ****ed up, ive seen shops lie through there tooths to back up there techs and wont admit to making a bad mistake. rant on them as much as needed to get the problem fixed, it shouldnt be your problem if the ****ed up.

just my $.02

Alright got some pictures. I now also have a new problem. Not sure what the fuse is called but i replaced it with a 40 amp fuse and before it was bypassed. Not smart but i just bought this from a previous owner 2 weeks. And when I said lights I meant the warning on the dash said " LIGHTS" no lights are out and it seems to run alright just not that great. I include some pictures of the install at Lynn's Audio and Video. I am running stock battery and stock alternator. If i get this all fixed I'm throwing a stinger 1500 cca battery. Hoping that will help my problem for juice. running around 160 amps of extra current. Anyways pictures!

Wow, that wire got fried! haha With a wire looking like that I can only imagine what could have happened. Hope you get it all resolved quick and painless.

That sucks. Im not positive but I dont think that is the best spot for your ground wire for the battery. Its that an aluminum intake it is connected to. I think it needs to be connected to the engine block.
That ground wire was your weaks link. Your car is fighting with its self over who has control over that ground wire. I think your new amp won.

Hey Brett,
Welcome to the club. Hope you can get these issues worked out. Wish I had some helpful info to through your way

I include some pictures of the install at Lynn's Audio and Video.
I was betting on CarTunes myself. Word to the wise, don't ever give them business. They hire installers anywhere they can get them, with no experience or training. I've heard horror stories...
