Tools that you will need

1-socket wrench with 10mm socket

3-flat head screw driver

Need to take out the center plastic panel piece in the back of the inside of the car.
There are 2 plastic screw that need to be taken out and 2 screws at the bottom

The speaker made be a little tough to get out. but it will come out.
In this pic you will see the 2 connectors that you need to disconnect
You can use the same connectors for the new speaker

When putting it back, there are inlets that you need to line up. they are like these

I'm not impressed by the car audio Bose makes. I would get some eclipse speakers.

My old Escort had odd sized ones too. I think they were 5 x 7s.

Hey everybody,

When replacing speakers in the Z32, you must remove ALL the Bose (or Blose...whichever you prefer...) equipment. This means the little amps that live inside the plastic housings of each speaker...as well as a complete rewire from the head unit back.
These systems were nice in their day... in fact, they put out an extraordinary amount of base for the relatively small speakers that were factory. This was due to the plastic housings that you removed the speakers from. They are acoustically ported and individually amplified. However this system is NOT compatible with any other speakers or headunits... at least not for the long term. If you do some homework on Zcar.com or TwinTurbo.net you'll find that speakers will blow/fry very quickly and headunits will develop their own set of problems (I can't say I know what they are).
So, unless you rewire and bypass everything electrical from Bose, your "upgrade" may be short lived.
Just passing on my .02's worth.
