I just stumbled accross you today and as soon as I get some free time I'll be jumping in. I bought a 1986 300ZX turbo, that didn't run, from my son when he went to Iraq a couple of years ago and just got it running and started fixing it up. I am in love with this car! As I've been looking for parts and info I have made a good friend in a guy in San Bernardino who sells parts. (www.300zxparts (http://www.300zxparts) for you.com) He has taught me a lot.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to being an enthusiastic Z owner and getting to know same.

How cool is this?!! I already feel like family. I'll post a pic as soon as I can figure out how to. The get together Sat. sounds like fun, I'll have to see if it works out for me. I saw the "Z Store" site and they're all about the west coast nationals z show. It sounded like a great trip. Then I thought hmmmm maybe there's a bunch of folks closer than Ca and sure enough... I'm looking forward to meeting new friends, thanks!

Pictures are pretty easy. You can use any photo hosting site and just copy the link that starts with IMG when you upload. I personally use tinypic.com, and it works great.
Saturday should be a great time. I've read some reviews online for Z Pizza, and it sounds like they make a pretty good slice. We actually have a thread about the Z West Coast Nationals in the "Local Events" thread, but as far as I know, our annual Vegas trip falls on the same weekend, so I think most of us will probably be only going half way to Cali :lol:
And yes, we are definitely closer than CA. I live in Ogden, along with a few other members, but most of the crew lives in the General Salt Lake City area, with a few other scattered around the state.
We're glad you're here and can't wait to see you and the Z in action.

This is the best I can do for a pic right now, I want to get my rocker panels back on before I get too carried away with a camera. This car has been a lot of fun. While it sat for two years out of site it was out of mind but, once I got it running I fell hard for it. It's like a new girlfriend. I want to pamper it, fix it and make it look like it deserves. I'm sure you all can relate... I'll try to hook up at one of the gatherings soon, I'm lookig forward to meeting you.

Yeah. I have to admit, it wasn't a big restoration project but, I have had to do a lot of little things- the tint is new, wheel centers, lots of knobs and screws, chase down a rocker panel and some lights. It can become endless but, it's addicting. I want it to be as perfect as I can get it.

Is it just me or is really not many of these left out there? It seems a lot harder to find parts than if it were any other year. Maybe it's just because it's a turbo??? It has amazed me how many parts are NOT interchangable. I'm hoping to make it to a meet soon. I don't know about this Saturday but, hopefully the next one. I have sooooo many questions. I've never been a "gear head" but, I'm definatly ready to become educated so I can be more comfortable under the hood. I'm hoping you guys can show me the way. What about this thing in Las Vegas next month? Is there any info on it or is it just an informal get-together?

I see the occasional Z31 on the road. They're usually in pretty rough shape unfortunately. I'm not much of a gear head either, but I love and respect Z cars. Even the ones in the junkyard. :lol: 8-) The Vegas run is once a year, and this year will probably be like last year. Leave Friday morning and come back Sunday afternoon.

That is a phenominal photo. My rocker panels should be ready this week. I repainted the wiper arms and put black vinyl where the paint came off the t-top edges today. I'll be ready to start taking pictures soon

how is the condition of the dash andy? my last two z's had the same crack above the guage cluster, right down the middle lol

The dash has/had abig crack and was lifted badley all along the leading edge. I have a "new" dash on it's way that looks to be near perfect. In the mean time I cut the old dash with a razor knife and covered it with a dash mat. I've just been tapping my foot waiting for the other dash to arrive. Also I got the rockers on today and am real happy with that. While my son had the car someone stole the wheels off the drivers side and dropped it on cinder blocks. So that rocker was destroyed and the body was dented. I did an OK job of body work to get the new rocker on but, I wasn't as good as I'd have liked. Also, Here's some exciting news, I found an "84 turbo (not anniversary) that looks to be in bad enough shape (cosmetics-rust and lousy interior) that I should be able to get it cheeeeeeap. The engine looks cleaner than mine. 140,000 miles and owned by an old maid who has let it sit for the last four or five years. I'm just licking my chops hoping to get it. I'll keep you updated when I finally talk to the owner.
